I am Daniela Vicentini, a visual artist and researcher. I live and work in Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, Brazil.
My artistic practice grows out of the direct observation of nature and the processes of life. I work primarily with watercolor, developing series through staying with and returning to the same place, following its transformations over time.
The sea, rocks, dunes, vegetation, sky, wind, and human presence are some of the elements I encounter along these journeys. More than representing a landscape, I seek to perceive its relationships, movements, and different states — what reveals itself when we remain in front of something long enough to truly observe it.
The prints available in this shop are reproductions of works that are part of these journeys. They are a way of bringing into other spaces images that were born from experiences of presence, observation, and painting — a way of bringing this slowness into your everyday life.
I hold a PhD in Arts from UDESC and a Master's degree in Art History from PUC-Rio. Since 2007, I have lived and worked in Florianópolis, where I continue to develop my research around painting, nature, time, and experience.
